At Cubitt Town Primary School, we aim to provide a relevant, challenging and enjoyable computing curriculum that helps equip our children for the 21st Century. Computing is not delivered as a single, discrete subject, but is embedded across the entire curriculum. Skills are taught as part of literacy, numeracy and topic lessons, allowing children to use computing as tool to enhance their learning across the curriculum.
Children learn to understand and apply the basic principles of computing - including programming, digital presentation, databases, digital media and research - using a wide range of technology. The children will also learn how to use computing technology effectively, responsibly and safely. Oracy underpins much of our computing learning, as regular opportunities for talk helps further children's understanding of key ideas.
Our computing curriculum is used to ensure clear progression through the year groups and support for lesson plans comes from select schemes of work. Regular formative assessment takes place during the children's learning and this is assessed against the key skills set out in the school curriculum.
